Welcome

A place to belong

Whether you’re visiting the area, exploring faith for the first time or returning to church and looking for a place to call home, you are so welcome to join us at Edwalton Church.

As a church, we genuinely love meeting new people. You are warmly invited to any of our services, activities and special events. You can find out what’s on here.

We enjoy gathering for services on Sundays, but church is about much more than that. It’s about being a family and enjoying community together, so there’s a lot going on during the week too.

We aspire to welcome young and old into our church family to worship God together, to share the life-changing message of Jesus, and to serve our community. We are so excited for the future of Edwalton Church and what God is doing here, and we’d love you to be part of our adventure.

OUR VISION

What we want our church to achieve

Welcoming all

We want to be a community where everyone, from all walks of life and wherever you are on your journey of faith, feels they belong. Church should be a family where people are welcomed, loved and encouraged.

Growing in faith

You don’t need to believe to come and join us, you may be curious and have questions, that’s great, this is the place to explore Christianity. If you’ve recently moved into the area and are looking for a church to belong to, you are so welcome. Whatever your circumstance, we would love to meet you. Our aspiration is to be a worshipping church, to keep learning about what it means to be a follower of Jesus and to grow in our faith together.

Serving with love

At the heart of what we believe is that an encounter with Jesus is life-changing. Following His teaching is the key to living life with purpose, peace and hope for the future. Our desire is to share this amazing good news with our local community, and to be a church that serves its people in Edwalton.

About Edwalton Church

A place that endures

A church has stood in Edwalton for over 800 years. Over the centuries, today’s beautiful building — with its striking stained glass telling the story of Christ — has been at the heart of village life, a place of faith and community. It remains a quiet, consistent reminder of God’s enduring love and our shared search for meaning and purpose across generations.

Why “Holy Rood”?

One of the church’s most distinctive features is the carved screen between the nave and chancel. Above it stands a large wooden cross — the central symbol of Christianity.
“Holy Rood” is an old English phrase meaning “Holy Cross”, from which the church takes its name.

Explore the history

If you’d like to discover more, a wealth of archive material is available online at Edwalton Holy Rood History.
The Church History Project, launched in 1998 with the University of Nottingham, provides a detailed historical and archaeological record of churches across the Diocese.

Our services are relaxed, welcoming, and all about worshipping together.

Whatever your age or stage in life, there's always something going on here for you.

Our church garden is a space to breathe, reflect, and find a little peace in the day.
